Tioga Road Open! Tioga Road, the continuation of Hwy 120 across the Sierra Nevada is open. Tuolumne Meadows Grocery Store and the Sport Shop are operating from 8AM to 5PM daily. Gas is available 24 hours by credit card. Tuolumne Meadows and White Wolf Lodges are open, serving breakfast and dinner. For details, see their website.
High Country Campgrounds are Open: White Wolf and Tuolumne campgrounds are open. The Park Service website gives information on the campgrounds and how to make reservations.
Half Dome Cables Are Up: Challenge yourself with a hike up Half Dome. This is one of the world's most popular and rewarding trips. The Half Dome hike is a round trip of 17+ miles with a 4,800 foot elevation gain, extremely strenuous, and possible weather changes such as thunder storms. Rafting in Yosemite Valley: The Curry Village Raft Stand is open for rentals from 10AM to 4PM. This is a very leisurely way to enjoy the Valley scenery, floating on the meandering Merced River. Raft rentals include life jackets and a short orientation session explaining raft navigation and safety.
"Green Dragon" Valley Tours:

Get a great introduction to Yosemite Valley's history, geology, plant and animal life on the open-air tram known as the Green Dragon.

Mariposa Evenings -- Free Music: This popular series of live music performances brings a variety of bands to Mariposa Arts Park in downtown Mariposa. Music starts at 7PM every Friday and Saturday (except July 4th) until Labor Day. Bring a blanket or lawn chair for seating. See the Calendar of Events for listings of the groups and a brief description of the style of music they play.
Coulterville 4th of July Deep Pit BBQ Join us for the Coulterville Fire Brigade's 40th celebration, noon to 6PM in Coulterville Park. For this traditional treat, the fire pits are started the evening before and the meat slowly roasts through the night. Entertainment includes a raffle, watermelon-eating contest, water slide and lots of kids' games.
Kiwanis July 4th Carnival & Fireworks The kids' carnival, starting at noon, features a bounce house and variety of kids' activities, continuing throughout the afternoon. Carnival admission is free. The fireworks show starts at dark (gates open 7PM) and lasts about one hour. Admission to the fireworks is $5, kids 8 and under free.
Music & Workshops at the Bug: The Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort in Midpines presents an intriguing mix of performances and workshops. Saturday, July 18th, Rasa Vitalia, a professional dancer, will give a Belly Dance performance at 8PM, followed by a belly dance workshop at 10AM Sunday, in the Bug Spa. Friday, August 7th, the group Lava Moon, comprised of native Hawaiian Leina'ala Kailawa ("Lava") and Jonathan Siebrant, a North Carolinian with roots in Appalachian music, will play in the Cafe, and the next morning, August 8, will present a Hula workshop in the Bug Spa.
